History
We are Vietnamese refugees from the Indochina War and settled down in Thailand. Initially we stayed in Nong Khai. My father had a pig farm and my mother sold pork at the market. They had 8 children. They both worked hard to raise their children. They invested small business for their children to make a living when they grew up.
Ms.Ti Hwangti (Sirirat Wongwannachai), is the fourth child of family. She replaced her mother’s career as a pork seller. Mother sold food for 30 years. After that she opened a grocery shop and had some budget to expand a shop at her house.
In 1997, Thailand had a financial problem (IMF era) Thus, grocery shop had high competition in the market. Major department stores began to open in Nong Khai. Khun Sirirat started to launch a new business. With her talent in cooking and experience in former business. At that time, the government provided health campaign. By exercising and eating good food.
Khun Sirirat decided to take Vietnamese cuisine course in Vietnam, an original place for Namnueng. She also invited her relative who is an experienced cook to teach her how to adapt ingredient and raw material to suit with Thai taste. She launched her products under the brand name “Siriporn Namnueng” At that time, Khun Sirirat had 2 dishes; Namnueng and Vietnamese Fried Spring Rolls. For take away only. She did this business for almost 5 years. Emphasis on quality and unique taste. We don’t have any commercials. Customers suggested to open a restaurant with good atmosphere. Thus, Khun Sirirat discussed with her sisters (Khun Siriporn and Khun Lek) Finally they decided to invest and open a restaurant in Udon Thani. Because it’s a bigger city and better transportation than Nong Khai. It’s also a business center of Upper Northeast Region.
We opened our restaurant on December 1, 2004. Located on a good location with quality production and best service.
Under the brand name “Phon Nemnueng” and its logo showing a woman in Vietnam traditional dress (Ao Dai) and a hat. The word “Phon” we use it instead of Siriporn for short but good meaning remains.
